I’m very interested in the machine learning side of things and writing good software to make precise measurements. I came from industrial software development in tech, but what really hooked me with particle physics is trying to learn something – something very specific – from a potentially noisy and difficult-to-deal-with data set. Neutrino physics data isn’t as messy as collider physics, but it has lots of unknowns. It’s a very interesting problem to me. DUNE is chasing the Holy Grail of neutrino physics. Being able to contribute both to machine learning and fundamental physics is the best of both worlds.

Curious about the project?
