I’ve been interested in neutrinos for many years, since the time when we were detecting less of them from the sun than we expected from the solar model. It turns out that this is due to them changing from one type to another as they travel. I find it fascinating that a neutrino starts as one thing and then changes into something else without needing to interact with anything along the way. A highlight for me was working on a neutrino experiment in Japan that was the first to actually detect muon neutrinos changing to electron neutrinos. Outside work, I enjoy mountaineering and seeing blues bands when I visit Chicago.
